AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY SUPPLIERS HIGHLIGHT THE MAIN TECHNOLOGIES THEY ARE LOOKING TO FIND AT MECÂNICA 2016

Big companies connected to the auto industry are on the Buyers Advisory Board for the 2016 Mecânica International Trade Show. Members include ZF and PolyhedronAutomotive. In creating a group of buyers/visitors to help in suggesting attractions and business opportunities, the show's organizer, Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado, expects to boost the degree of investment in the capital goods market throughout Latin America. Ninety thousand visitors are expected to attend the event.
Now in its 31st edition, the Mecânica Trade Show is the largest and most traditional manufacturing industry trade show in Latin America, with a tradition of finalizing deals under special conditions and on defining what is most modern in Brazil's industrial complex.
Edmundo Silva, a ZF representative and Industrial Engineering manager, says that "the Advisory Board is key to organizing the event, since we are able to provide information regarding the current needs of the market in which we are working. Based on data, exhibitor companies can direct their product and services offers according to the most relevant demands." According to the engineer, being at Mecânica is a chance to learn about new technologies and future trends that can be adopted in the company's processes, resulting in optimized processes and lower costs."
ZF has been in the market for over 100 years and is among the world's three largest auto industry suppliers, with 230 production units in 40 countries. It is an international leader in driveline technologies for vehicles, chassis and active and passive safety, including advanced autonomous driving systems.
"Within the show, we are looking for machinery geared towards the automation of products and technologies in which there is more interest in the auto parts sector. Right now, Brazil's industry is outdated. This is a problem for the competitiveness and survival of companies operating in the country. We live in the age of the industry of the future, which revolves around connectivity between sectors, machines and people. Industry 4.0 is already a reality and we need to adapt to it. That is why events like Mecânica are so important to the industry, because they bring together suppliers of technologies that support these needs and that offer products geared towards trends in industrial automation," Edmundo says in closing. The Mecânica 2016 Trade Show touches on these topics with unprecedented attractions, such as the Innovation Area and the Mecânica Industry 4.0. Forum.
"Mecânica is already part of the Polyhedron calendar. We have two goals when we attend: learn about new technologies, especially in the area of Metrology, and invest in equipment at the show, where we can get the best prices and payment conditions," explains Juliano Ferraioli, the company’s general director. Polyhedron Automotive is a company that has worked with Industrial Metrology and Construction of Control and Welding Devices for over nine years. The company works with the most varied industrial sectors, such as Automotive, Aerospace, Appliances, Oil & Gas, and others.
The executive says that the automotive segment is quality-based, since the complexity of building an automobile demands high-standard parts to make the end product. "A car body for a basic car contains over 300 stamped parts that are welded together and each part is provided by a different supplier. Imagine if each supplier sent a part without an established standard. We wouldn't be able to assemble the body, since there would be various conflicts between parts that would prevent assembly." In line with the needs of the market, the Show is also organizing the ABS Space in parallel, coordinated by the Brazilian Welding Association, with the latest technologies in this vital segment for quality manufacturing.
The company visits the show to find software to help in designing hardware and molds, machining centers and other machines to build these centers, as well as presses and injectors for production of parts. "The Mecânica Trade Show is already a landmark. Many companies wait the whole year to finalize business at the event, since they can get big discounts through negotiations. On the Advisory Board, we are able to further improve business done, since the organizer uses us to learn how to improve the event, through the opinions of those on 'the other side of the counter.'"
